Basalt | Live Brief

The Brief \\ The well-known footwear designer Daniel Bailey set a live brief for us, asking that we create a visual story around Daniel’s upcoming independent footwear brand, BASALT.

  • Bailey’s love for Japanese arts and craftsmanship became my starting point. His dedication to process over trends inspired me to create a design that feels intentional, minimal, and timeless echoing the discipline and refinement found in Japanese craft.

  • In response to the brief, the idea was to bring the brand to life and connect it to relevant areas of youth culture, sport, and fashion. Drawing inspiration from Daniel Bailey’s deep love for Japanese craftsmanship, the idea was to create an identity that embodies precision, balance, and timeless artistry bridging his devotion to craft with a design language that resonates in contemporary culture.
